Hi all,
I am considering to implement a real time capable driver for external devices within the PRU units. I know that there are dedicated break outs for the PRUs but I require access to the external bus interface and for other reasons hard real time capable access to some SoC peripherals.
In a video from TI I learned that the ARM cannot perform operations on peripherals in deterministic real time because of the non deterministic behaviour of the L3 and L4 which ist concurring access with PRUs. Since the PRUs are routed through the same path I wonder about the consequences for the PRU operations on SoC peripherals and external Bus.
My Questions:
* Is it possible to balance or set acces priviledges via internal bus systems to one of the participants (like PRUs), and if so will the access behaviour bekome deterministic then, at least for the PRUs?
* what are your experiences with accessing peripherals with PRUs?
Remark:
There would be no issue in variying access timings as long as there is a given maximum latency, which would make the access deterministic, by my understanding of the sentencs.
