Forum Post: RE: AM3359: Unable to boot MLO/Uboot using 8-bit NAND

Biser,

I mentioned in the first paragraph above that the NAND device ID we are using is not listed in the Table 26-14 Supported NAND Devices of the AM335x (SPRU73J). Our board boot mode is set to SYSBOOT[4:0] = 10011 (NAND, NANDI2C, MMC0, UART0). With this boot mode sequence, the ROM code should be reading if the device is ONFI compliant or not. The NAND we are using is ONFI compliant.

Why is it that the ROM code does not recognize the device as ONFI compliant?

We can repeatedly verify using an I2C analyzer that the ROM code is reading the valid NAND geometry from the EEPROM. We have two boards, one with SYSBOOT[9] = 0 and the other SYSBOOT[9] = 1. Both will not boot from NAND. All we can see is a series of CCCCCCCCCCC at the linux console.

Any help is appreciated.
