Forum Post: Programming the eMMC for production - questions from the programming center

All -

I am working with the Arrow programming center to get the eMMC preprogrammed before installing on the board assembly.  It is very unclear to me exactly how this process should work and what files need to be used.  The board is based on the BBB so it's using the same IMG files from beagleboard.org.

  1. What IMG file should I have the programming center use?  I have been told to have them use the same IMG file that is burned onto the SD card - http://debian.beagleboard.org/images/BBB-eMMC-flasher-debian-7.5-2014-05-14-2gb.img.xz
  2. Is this a single contiguous IMG file starting at address 0x00 in the eMMC, or are there different offsets and such that need to be programmed in there?
  3. Is any of this documented anywhere for the case of using a programmer to preload the eMMC prior to assembly?  Tons of info on how to program eMMC once it's on the board, but I can't find anything for the preprogrammed case.

Thanks!

John
