Well, this means that when you transmit data from the AM335X you have to switch the SPI channel to output and load data in the transmit register. Then after this data is shifted out you have to switch the SPI channel to input. To make the slave device output data you will need to write dummy data in the transmit register, which will make the SPI clock run and data from the slave device will be shifted in the SPI receive register.
